BR: What kind of events does Elyson offer? How do y’all decide what to do?
Nicole: We try to have something for everyone! Last August, we surveyed the community to see what kinds of events people like and didn’t like and what they wanted to see more of. We then tried to use that info in the planning of events for this year. One thing that came out was people wanted more adults-only events, so we’ve definitely incorporated more of those this year
BR: Tell us about some of Elyson’s signature events!
Nicole: Sure! This is our third year for
Party in the Park, which is our big family-friendly Spring event. Each year we also host
Jump into Summer and
Back to Cool, which are both large, community-wide family friendly events for our residents. For these big events, we go all out – I think these are what Elyson is known for! You’ll usually find a DJ plus live music, inflatables, trains, petting zoos, arts & crafts, face painters, balloonists, circus performers, food trucks and more! We’ve had water slides, foam parties – we really know how to have a good time!
BR: Those all sound so fun. What are some of the more regular events like?
Nicole: Throughout the year, we also have more casual events that are just as fun, like
movie nights on the lawn,
Tails & Ales at Elyson Commons, and
Food Truck Fridays, where we have local food trucks come out to Elyson House – we might have pony rides and live music. It’s a good opportunity for people to take a break and catch up with their neighbors and meet new neighbors!
BR: What are some of the adults-only events like?
Nicole: Those have been another great chance for people to get to know each other. If you look at the Events page, you can see some pictures, but we’ve had
crafting nights,
trivia night, our annual
Bingo night, and a
dinner and dancing event, where everyone got to enjoy a wonderful meal and a glass of wine and enjoy each other’s company. This year, we’ve also had a
sushi-making workshop and a wreath-making class. Oh, and there’s
Wine Down Wednesdays with live music and a wine vendor, where we encouraged residents to bring their own wine, sit on the event lawn, and chill.
BR: Does Elyson have any special holiday events?
Nicole: Yes! Last December, we had our biggest holiday event yet – a
holiday market with Santa. And at Halloween, we host the
Halloween Spook-tacula, which is our popular neighborhood trunk-or-treat event. You’ll find inflatables, a corn maze, games and prizes. Everyone wears costumes for the costume parade, and the kids go trick or treating from all the decorated car trunks. It’s a lot of fun.
BR: Are the events mostly at Elyson House?
Nicole: We try to host them all over the community, so some are at Elyson Commons, some are at Lakeside Landing, others are at Elyson House – they’re everywhere.
BR: How do people find out about upcoming events?
Nicole: Residents can read about upcoming events in our newsletter, as well as on the community webpage, on the community calendar, and also on the TVs at Elyson House. Our public events are also promoted on the Elyson website.
BR: What are you excited about moving forward?
Nicole: Just seeing more people come and enjoy themselves; we want residents and guests to have a great time, whether they are meeting new neighbors or there with friends and family!
