Meet the Mozers

Mozer
Raechel and Kurt Mozer both grew up in Katy, but they didn’t actually meet until 2019. The couple married last year, and soon decided it was time to find a community where they might want to raise future children, as well as their dog children, Nala and Bella. We sat down with Raechel to find out how they chose Elyson, why they love their Brookfield home, and why the first new construction home they built with another builder didn’t turn out to be the dream home they thought it would be.

BR: How did you first hear about Brookfield Residential?
RM: We heard about Brookfield through our realtor and friend, Gerrod Bailey, with the Nicole Freer Group at Corcoran Genesis. We knew we wanted to look at new construction homes in Elyson, but with the number of builders there were to choose from, we decided to trust our realtor's recommendation, and we are so happy that we did!

BR: Where did you live before?
RM: We lived in northwest Houston together for the last four years, after purchasing our first new construction home in 2020.

BR: What Brookfield floor plan did you choose (and why)?
RM: One of the reasons we chose to move was to find a bigger home to host friends and family as well as a possible future family of our own. We initially were looking at the Norwich floor plan, but we decided on purchasing a Wellesley. We opted for the larger covered patio, a more designated dining room area, and one of our favorite features -- the utility room off the master closet for easy access to the laundry.

BR: Why was Brookfield the right fit?
RM: Our first home had a very contemporary/modern look and feel. We really liked how Brookfield matched our taste with both their exterior options and interior selections for the different styles of homes we had to choose from. It took one tour of the model home, and it just felt right for us.

BR: What did you notice about the quality of your home?
RM: Our experience with our previous new construction builder, on our first home, was not the best, especially when considering the quality of the home we paid for versus what we actually received. We did not feel that way at all with Brookfield. We immediately could tell with the quality of the Brookfield homes we toured and the home we ended up purchasing, that we were getting a quality product for the financial investment we were making. The finishing touches, the materials, the hardware and appliances are all of high quality, making us feel confident in our home purchase.

BR: What was the buying experience like?
RM: Our Brookfield New Home Counselor, Jay Robles, made the buying experience seamless from the first of many home tours we had, to the several questions we asked him along the way, to the long list of wants we gave him when looking for our perfect home. He was great at communicating with us and our realtor throughout the process and made us feel confident in the home we ended up purchasing. After closing on the home, the construction team, including Lupita Contreras, was absolutely wonderful to work with, and we can't go without mentioning Alfredo Ramos, the Customer Care Representative, on his attentiveness and readiness to fix minor things that popped up that we noticed and asked to have remedied. We are so amazed by the overall fantastic experience we've had with Brookfield... especially after our last builder experience with our previous home.

BR: Did you go with an inventory home or build from the ground up?
RM: We purchased an inventory home and were very pleased with the overall design, color choices, and selections.

BR: What neighborhood amenities were you most excited about?
RM: Our previous home was in a gated community with an HOA, but the only amenities were a small trail around an even smaller pond, and a decent sized dog run, all for the same amount we are paying now for the HOA in Elyson. We were most excited about the community garden, the new amenity center, Lakeside Landing, with the new gym and outdoor pool, and we look forward to exploring all the different bike trails and parks scattered throughout the development.

BR: Now that you’re in your home, what’s your favorite feature?
RM: We sort of mentioned this in regards to our floor plan, but we love that the utility room is right off the master closet. It makes laundry less daunting when we don't have to go to the opposite side of the house or upstairs for it. We also love our covered patio. We have enjoyed sitting outside to watch the sunrise with a cup of coffee in the morning on the weekends while the dogs play in the yard.

BR: What would you tell someone considering a Brookfield home?
RM: That they won't regret choosing Brookfield. From the quality of work, to the people on the Brookfield team, we are pleased with our experience from start to finish. We would definitely recommend Brookfield to others looking to find their dream home in Elyson.

BR: Is there anything else you want people to know?
RM: We are so happy that we moved to Elyson, and we are thankful for the experience we have had with Brookfield. We love that we are still in Katy, are zoned to Katy ISD, and feel confident in the home we purchased to raise our future family in. We would do it all again if we had to, although we are not moving again for a long while!
