The Torres family fell in love with the Rutgers floor plan.
As owners of Exemplary Cleaning Services, Daniel Torres and his wife Gloria have seen a lot of homes in Houston, so they know something special when they see it. “We are a family-owned business,” Daniel says. “Our teams do residential and commercial cleaning for realtors; we specialize in deep cleans and make ready work.”
Exploring Elyson
About 2-3 years ago, the Torres family noticed Elyson. “We already lived in Katy, and our kids were in Katy schools, so when we needed a larger home, we came out to Elyson to look around.”
Different from the start
When they saw the Brookfield models, it was love at first sight. “My wife and I were like, this is it,” Daniel says. “Walking in, we liked that the floor plan was extremely different – we were very impressed and excited. The kids started picking out their rooms and deciding which would be the guest room.”
Balancing everyone’s taste
The Rutgers model home fit both Daniel’s traditional style and Gloria’s more modern style. “My wife was impressed with the colors,” Daniel says. “I was impressed with the dark windows that look black. That was very different for us – my wife has very modern style. I am more classical, but this combination fit both of our tastes.”
Getting serious
Daniel and Gloria came back a few days later to get more information about availability and financing. “We met Belinda and got more serious,” Daniel says. “We started seeing lots and looking at yards. One of the big attractions in Elyson was all of the amenities.”
Digging into design
As part of the design process, they picked out their upgrades and finishes. Even though Daniel and Gloria have different tastes, the process went well. “It was fun and exciting,” Daniel says. “We were thinking everything had to match, but our designer helped us. You can’t match too close. She helped us to pick the tile, the countertops – all the decoration inside. She made it classy but modern at the same time! Her knowledge was impressive.”
Enjoying Elyson
Now that they’re settled into their new home, the Torres family is enjoying life in Elyson. “I go running on the weekends and take advantage of the trails on the lake with my dog,” Daniel says. “My kids are able to go to the swimming pool; my little one has been on the splash pad. My older son is on the basketball court and my daughter is on the soccer fields. They call their friends to come over. That’s what counts to me! My wife is happy, my kids are happy, that’s what I work for. We’re looking forward to many years of happiness."
