Getting outside our normal routineOn the day that our team volunteered, we were very excited to be on playhouse duty. We created a Sonic the Hedgehog-themed playhouse for a child named Nathaniel, as well as a Hello Kitty-themed playhouse for a 5-year-old named Jazmine who is having a birthday this month. Both families were very appreciative. “He is very excited to get the playhouse,” said Nathaniel’s family. “Thank you for making a place where he can go outside and play.”
Small houses, big impactsWorking on these smaller house projects was also a welcome change for our team. "I normally spend my days working in our corporate office, so it was exciting to get back to my roots and be hands-on on a construction project,” said Matthew McCafferty, SVP, Operations. “And it was even more meaningful because it benefited such a worthy cause.”

Brookfield Cares, our corporate philanthropy initiative program that aims to make a positive contribution to the communities in which we operate. The goal of our program is to use our financial and human resources to help enrich the lives of those in need within our community. “I love that Brookfield takes part in Habitat for Humanity and other things that make a difference in our community,” says Madelynn Vickers, Marketing Coordinator. “It’s a great way to get to know your co-workers, and it just makes you feel good to help folks who need it. It was a rewarding way to spend the day!”
