Meet Shamara

In 2023, after a bad experience with another builder, Shamara Liddle was looking at homes online when she fell in love with a black and white two-story home in a European style from Brookfield Residential. “I came out to the models the next day,” Shamara says. “I ended up running into Belinda, and I was telling her, ‘I love the way y’all build homes!’”

With You All the Way

Belinda showed Shamara around several homes and reassured her that her past experience wouldn’t happen with Brookfield. “I wasn’t 100% certain, because of the bad experience with the previous builder,” Shamara says. “Belinda asked me what I was uncertain about, and let me know what I would need to prepare for each step in the process.”

Building Trust

As Shamara considered her options, she frequently returned to Elyson to talk to Belinda. “I just kept coming back to the community,” Shamara says. “I talked to Belinda so many times, and it was so amazing. She said, ‘Shamara, when you are ready, I am ready, just come back!’ And I said, ‘I don’t know when I’m coming back, but I’m coming back!’”

Running the Numbers

Belinda also introduced Shamara to Chip Jenkins, a mortgage counselor with BRP Home Mortgage, who could help her get prequalified. “Chip is amazing,” Shamara says. “He can help with anything you need. I told Chip whatever he told me I needed to do, I would do! And I worked and did it, and one day I came to him again and said, ‘I‘m ready!’”

One story or two?

Shamara moved in this past April, and she and her Shihpoo puppy Oreo couldn’t be happier.”It has a home office, which was a must,” she says. “I got dead set on the European style — I was obsessed with the archway and the kitchen! The model home has a black backsplash, and I was obsessed with that, and now it’s in my home! And I have the large patio, not the standard size. Oreo loves the yard!”

Check-ins After Closing

The Shamara also appreciates the care that Brookfield has provided after the closing. “Alfredo (ed. Shamara’s Customer Care Representative) and Jacob (ed. Shamara’s Construction Superintendent) both came to check on things,” Shamara says. ”My sister just built her dream home, and the other day, we were talking. I told her the builder was knocking on my door to do my 20-day inspection, and she said her builder never did that! She said it would have saved her so much money if they had.”

Shamara is thankful she went with Brookfield Residential home in Elyson. “It was everything,” Shamara says. “It was Belinda, Chip, the neighborhood, the home, but mostly how comfortable I felt with Belinda and Chip. I trusted them throughout the process.”
